Derby's story Derby is a Husky mix born with smaller forearms and no front paws, making it difficult for him to get around and enjoy the active lifestyle he longed for. His disability also made it difficult for his original owners to care for him, and they planned to take Derby to a shelter where he would be euthanized. Peace and paws , a dog rescue group in Hillsborough, New Hampshire, decided to give Derby another chance. Derby's new foster mother Tara Anderson first bought Derby a wheelchair to get around. She saw a huge improvement in his mobility, but it wasn't enough to give him an unrestricted life. She wanted Derby to be able to run around and play with other dogs. In 2020, the American Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) released its data on poisoning in dogs. It is the best information we have about household hazards for our canine friends. From a dog owner's point of view, it contains two important lists: the Top 5 reported poisonings and the Top 20 deaths . As you will see, these are very different. The top 5 poisons from dogs chocolate Ibuprofen (Nurofen®, Advil®, etc.) Food containing sucrose Nitrogen-based fertilizers Acetaminophen (paracetamol) These are good to know and easy to prevent.
